John Bellairs - The Face in the Frost (Audio book)

John Bellairs - The Face in the Frost (Audio book)
English | John Bellairs | 8 Tracks | 5 h 37 min | MP3 | 147 MB

A fantasy classic by any standard. This book has child like elements, solid suspense and abounds with humor. This only makes the sense of horror that grows in this book hit home harder. This book has a strong foundation in real magic. Although it lacks the scale of The Lord of the Rings, it is a classic good vs. evil book in its own right. When the book Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Dungeon Master's Guide was written by Gary Gygax, 'The Face in the Frost' was included on the "recommended reading" list. Written by John Bellairs in 1969 for adults, before he began writing his YA books.

"Prospero is a magician who lives in a very unusual (and very cluttered) house. When his friend Roger Bacon comes to visit, they both realize something is seriously amiss. There have been many signs and portents - a huge, malicious moth, skeletal birds, bad omens from magical mirrors. After Prospero examines a book Bacon has brought with him, he realizes an old enemy is behind this, and is plotting evil. Prospero and Bacon set out to thwart said evil; during their journeys, they encounter many magical and mundane problems, and rely on their wits as much as their magic to save them. By the end of the story, the reader will find themselves on the edge of their seat when things come to a climax."
